Made of .9999 fine Gold, the 1/2 oz coin’s obverse, designed by Thomas Pesendorfer features the Great Organ of the Musikverein, the Golden Hall in Vienna’s Concert Hall with the inscription reading “Republik Österreich – 1/2 Unze Gold” which is German for “Republic of Austria, 1/2 ounce Gold.” Also on the obverse is the year of the coin as well as €50 value.
The coin’s reverse features an array of musical instruments such as the harp, violin, cello, flute, bassoon, and French horn with the inscription reading “Wiener Philharmoniker,” German for “Vienna Philharmonic.”
