This 2-ounce tribute round by American Silver Eagle is minted from 2 ounces of pure silver and draws inspiration from the elegant Palladium Eagle, first produced by the U.S. Mint in 2019.
Authorized under the American Eagle Palladium Bullion Coin Act of 2010 (Public Law 111-303) during the 111th Congress, the Palladium Eagle features renowned designs by sculptor Adolph Weinman. Its obverse displays Weinman’s iconic Winged Liberty Head—famously seen on the “Mercury Dime” minted from 1916 to 1945—which portrays the Goddess of Liberty wearing a winged cap. Meanwhile, the reverse is derived from Weinman’s 1907 medal design for the American Institute of Architects (AIA).
Prior to production, the Mint conducted thorough market research to assess demand. Although initial studies were delayed due to a conflict of interest, the reassigned evaluation by CPM Group in New York indicated modest market potential for palladium coins.
Despite these reservations, the Palladium Eagle achieved a successful launch. The bullion version, released on September 25, 2017, sold out on its first day, while the proof version—released on September 6, 2018 at $1,387.50—was snapped up within minutes, with secondary market premiums quickly rising to $600 above the Mint price. A reverse proof edition followed on September 12, 2019.
Meticulously curated by the team at Highland Mint in Florida, this IRA-approved silver tribute round is offered through Brighton Enterprises, making it an exceptional addition for collectors and a superb choice for silver stacking enthusiasts.
